According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Cherokee County has its first confirmed case of COVID-19. No additional information has been made available at this time regarding the infected individual. ADPH is not providing information in regards to what city infected persons reside in within each county.

Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers issued the following statement:

“We have been made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Cherokee County. We have no deatils at this time concerning the infected invidual and we are in contact with the Alabama Department of Public Health for further guidance. PLEASE continue to practice social distancing and good personal hygiene to protect yourself and your family.”

We encourage everyone to continue social distancing practices and proper personal hygiene. We will provide additional information as it is made available.

This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) and the CDC are providing updated information and guidance as it becomes available.
